Michael Heltebrake is a self-taught surreal and symbolic acrylic painter whose work explores transformation, resilience, and the profound connection between human emotion and the natural world. Born in Torrance, Los Angeles and now based in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains, Michael finds inspiration in the “hidden magic in plain sight” ... the glow of a desert sunset, the stillness of winter, or the quiet emotional experiences that shape our lives. His paintings blend fantasy, memory, and emotion into surreal compositions where bees carry blooming flowers, landscapes feel alive with spirit, and nature becomes both teacher and mirror.
